So, here i am, become one of Hewlett Packard Indonesia forces. I am the PBM for Corporate Resellers. PBM itself stands for Partner Business Manager. Something relate to Partners advisory things. On my second week in HP, i fell different environment compare to my previous company. Here in HP, people is very hectic and individualism, although in the same team, we hardly communicate each other. No brotherhood community as in my previous company. But i think this is the culture i need to deal with. INDEPENDENT, no dependency to other people. The positive thing is i need to cover my own job and master it, so i can be tougher and skillful.
Being to the field again as a “solo” fighter (after couple years being a manager, where there are people to assist me, doing the details) quite nostalgic for me. I could act swifter, with high agility (as i was in my first career). Seems being manager makes my movement limited and stiff (and also dependent)
Also, in HP, we are treated as professional, no need to clock-in before 08:00 and clock-out after 17:00. You are allowed to come late or go home earlier as long as you finish your work, and not making any issue to let your manager have to clear the mess later.
Today i run several Web-based training as a new employee. About internal Ethic and Compliance. I was surprised for some regulation there. That we are allowed to BLOGGING (not in office time :p), Facebook / Twitter and other social networking also allowed (with some disclaimers for sure :p). Now i know how a Multi National Company appreciate this trend. Also about racism…. (which i very agree), they really prohibited any racism act! Even they allowed a gay to display his boyfriend picture… (and i feel little bit irritated when they give this gay thing as example… sorry no offense).
HP got Coffee Machines in their office. I love coffee, but i never have it from the machine after once i have very bad taste coffee from it. It tastes really bad. So, i think i need to back to my old habit, have my own instant coffee at my drawer.
Speaking of my new job, My Manager said, she still need people on her team, so i send them some of my friend resume. Hope i could get the “member-get-member” prizes as i usually do in Metrodata :p
O yess, they also have the member-get-member program. So excited to discover the differences here… (to be continued)
